From January 21 through to February 11, 2017 the Lay Academy presented 4 consecutive sessions on Galatians: Famous Lost Words.
The late Bishop Marlin Aadland, first Bishop of the British Columbia Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (1986 to 1998), explored the terms "Word", "Faith", "Law", and "Freedom" as used in the book of Galatians.
Discussion revolved around such questions as:
Has our own desire to control the Gospel stopped us from hearing the Word?
Do we have more faith in ourselves than God?
Over 95 participants from across the 4 western provinces joined in to rediscover the meaning of these four terms in light of the Lutheran understanding of the Gospel in the year of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation.
The sessions were 90 minutes in length and hosted online as well as at various church sites.
